“First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen…” Those words are from Major General Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee’s eulogy for George Washington, after his death December 14th, 1799.
Keep working the job. Dave Ramsey. Beans and rice. Rice and beans. There's lots of guys in worse shape than I'm in. But that's no excuse to quit working. Coach Prime isn't going to stop working and he ain't hard to find either. National championship baby. You know that's the only thing on Coach Prime's mind. And Dave Ramsey is not retiring by any stretch of the imagination. And I'm sure Matt Furey is out there somewhere. I'll keep my goo-roo watch blog going and keep pushing out paychecks from my remote work headquarters. It is a privilege to have such a good job as I have and I am glad to have it. My good old manager Maurice just lost the battle to cancer. Earth is a lot poorer and heaven is a lot richer. He's up there with Mom and Dad now. Meanwhile down here. If you're reading this I'll assume you are still down here. Now it's possible that you are reading this after I am long gone. That would be the dream of any writ
I like to play around with all kinds of different blog names. Now I find myself back at The Doug Kenline Newsletter. Seems to be the best place maybe for random thoughts and random writing. I could sit and post pictures to Facebook and Twitter all day but people might start thinking I've gone a little overboard on Facebook and Twitter. They are two different animals it seems. Twitter seems to be more out there in the political world but today I started following a bunch of these farmer and heavy equipment types and cattle ranchers and all kinds of rural types. I like the pictures they post of the country life. I live in the city and pretty much like it here. The farm life looks good and I like reading about it and looking at pictures and thinking about the dollars and cents of ranching and farming which is probably not too good in most cases and always a lot of hard work. A lot of hard physical labor. I prefer to sit at my desk in my office and type on the keyboard. And ha
Well I wonder what Coach Prime is doing this morning. He's got a national championship to win and he's got a lot of competition. I want to start following the Virginia Tech wrestling team a little bit closer too. I'll ask conspiracy Joey if we can bet on collegiate wrestling. Betting is something that I have never been interested in but I find it interesting that Zach and Joey and others seem pretty dead sure that the entire thing is rigged. And when it comes down to an argument when I was a kid it was always settled by a bet. If you ever got in a sports argument with another kid it would always come down to ok let's bet. And that pretty much was the end of the argument until the last second clicked off of the clock. As soon as the bet is placed now it's time to go to work. Hit the weight room, run your practice plays, watch your diet, read good books, get plenty of rest, don't go out and rob a liquor store on Friday night. Coach Prime likes to coach
